Vinca (Periwinkle) is a tough, evergreen groundcover valued for its glossy foliage and long season of cheerful star‑shaped flowers. It spreads steadily to form a dense carpet, making it ideal for suppressing weeds, covering banks, filling awkward shady corners, and underplanting shrubs. Depending on the species and cultivar, flowers may be violet‑blue, lavender, white, or soft pink, appearing from spring and often continuing sporadically through summer and autumn. Vinca is reliable, shade‑tolerant, and extremely low maintenance.
